Qualifications

  • A Christian with a desire to serve, if a mentor or Bible study teacher
  • Ability to set appropriate boundaries
  • Active member of a Bible teaching church, if a mentor or Bible study teacher
  • Agree with APH, Inc. Mission, Vision, Policies & Procedures, and Statement of Faith

Mentor

  • Maintain confidentiality of all information received from A Peaceful Habitation Home & Aftercare Ministry, Inc., staff and participant
  • Make regularly scheduled weekly visits with participant
  • Pray with the participant regularly
  • Assist the participant in setting short and long-term goals to facilitate reintegration
  • Help the participant identify potential problems, or areas of difficulty, listen to and encourage participant
  • Monitor participant’s progress in carrying out goals and objectives
  • Attend monthly support meeting with other mentors and Executive Director or Program Manager

Volunteer Coordinator

  • Maintains confidentiality of all information received from A Peaceful Habitation Home & Aftercare Ministry, Inc., staff and participant.
  • Recruit, encourage, organize and motivate volunteers​

Life Skills and Bible Study Teacher

  • Prepare and teach life skill classes for Facilities in Grants and Springer: Values & Morals, Self-Confidence, Communication, Nutrition, Employability, Financial Coaching, Dressing for Success, Parenting Classes, etc. (Wednesdays at APH Home) TBD at the facilities
  • Assist with teaching of Bible study (Monday evenings)

Fundraising

  • Assist APH staff to coordinate events
  • Seek sponsorships, donations and donors
  • Help raise awareness for need to support of formerly incarcerated women
  • Become a donor

Marketing

  • Assist with creation and production of marketing materials (brochures, displays, newsletters) both printed and online
  • Assist in scheduling presentations to promote APH
  • Assist with mail outs (stuffing envelopes, stamping, etc.)
  • Help raise awareness for need for support of formerly incarcerated women

Administrative Support

  • Assist with administrative responsibilities
  • Assist in scheduling presentations to promote APH and with mail outs (stuffing envelopes, stamping, etc.)
  • Help raise awareness for need for support of formerly incarcerated women

Home Support

  • Spend time at the APH home and fellowship with women (perhaps even spend the night)
  • Facilitate fun outings for women – bowling, movie nights (girl’s night out)
  • Assist with grocery shopping, assist with creation of menu and shopping list
  • Drive women to church (must have clean driving record to drive ministry van)
  • Assist in organization of donations
  • Adopt a room or area of the home (spruce up/decorate a room of the home)
